I Can’t Tell You How Much Better I Feel

“I never thought menopause would affect me. I’m extremely health conscious. I eat right, exercise, and take supplements, and I’m in good shape. But when I turned 50, it hit me like a freight train—hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, the whole nine yards. The worst part for me was an increase in migraine headaches, which I’d had occasionally for years.

“I wasn’t about to take Premarin or Provera, so I tried black cohosh and other natural remedies, which didn’t help. My doctor at Whitaker Wellness allayed my fears about hormone replacement therapy by carefully explaining the differences between synthetic and horse hormones and natural hormones. I started on biestrogen and natural progesterone, and after about a month or so, they really began to help.

“I’m still taking them two years later at a lower dose, and I can’t tell you how much better I feel. I sleep well, have very few hot flashes, and although I still get some headaches, they aren’t migraines that knock me out.”

No More Menopausal Symptoms

When Betty went through menopause, she “fell apart”. This healthy, composed woman became a bundle of nerves and emotions. She had repeated hot flashes during the day and disrupted sleep at night. She was testy and impatient with her family and less than productive at work. She just couldn’t seem to concentrate.

After six months of suffering in silence, she came to Whitaker Wellness and was started on natural estrogen and progesterone therapy. Her symptoms completely disappeared, and her mental clarity and focus returned.

Good Results With Natural Hormones

Lois, a 50-year-old patient of mine, came to see me in a state of frustration and confusion. She was having severe menopausal symptoms and had a family history of heart disease, and her gynecologist had written her a prescription for Premarin and Provera, the best-selling hormone replacement drugs. But Lois had heard so much about the negative aspects of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) that she just didn’t know what to do.

We discussed her medical history, risk factors, and personal preferences, and I told her the pros and cons not only of hormone replacement therapy in general but of the various types of estrogen and progesterone, then left the decision up to her. She threw away her prescriptions for Premarin and Provera and began natural hormone replacement therapy. She reports that she is very satisfied with her regimen.
