High-Intensity Laser Therapy (in combination with other therapies) is helping Kent successfully battle Type 2 Diabetes
High-intensity laser therapy is the latest modality we’ve added to our pain-relieving protocols at the Whitaker Wellness Institute. This innovative treatment utilizes extremely high-energy wavelengths of light that penetrate deep to the injured cells. As the damaged cells absorb this light, their metabolism and energy production is boosted stimulating rapid tissue repair.
High-intensity laser therapy also has “photochemical” effects that trigger the lymphatic system and substantially reduce swelling, inflammation, and pain. It boasts an analgesic effect on nerve endings that amplifies pain relief. And because the high intensity of this laser slightly (yet comfortably) raises the temperature of deep tissues, microcirculation increases and tissues receive much-needed oxygen and nutrients that facilitate healing.
While “high-intensity” laser beams may sound a little intimidating, this therapy is completely safe and painless. Because the light is pulsed in microseconds rather than in a continuous stream, there’s no danger of burning or tissue damage. Though many patients note relief after a handful of sessions, we encourage patients interested in receiving high-intensity laser therapy to enroll in our Back to Health Program in order to take advantage of a full treatment course.
Many patients come to the Whitaker Wellness Institute searching for real pain relief after conventional medicine has failed to help them. Often, they’ve been recommended to undergo invasive surgeries or prescribed medications, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), COX-2 inhibitors, and opiates that temporarily mask pain but are rife with dangerous side effects. Instead of relying on these ineffective modalities, we recommend high-intensity laser therapy as a first-line treatment for anyone suffering with acute or chronic pain.
Because high-intensity laser works synergistically with our other state-of-the-art pain-relieving therapies, your Whitaker Wellness physician may also prescribe some of these treatments during your stay. We’ll also help you fine-tune your supplement regimen, add powerful natural pain relievers, and create an exercise program that’s geared toward helping you recover fully, and get back to your normal activities.
Please be aware that low-level laser therapy, particularly with inexpensive handheld devices, is unlikely to produce the same therapeutic results.
High-intensity laser therapy is helpful for a number of chronic and acute pain syndromes. At the Whitaker Wellness Institute, we’ve successfully used this treatment to alleviate discomfort from all manners of musculoskeletal pain including, but not limited to:
- Back pain
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Epicondylitis (tennis elbow)
- Knee pain
- Neck pain
- Plantar fasciitis
- Shoulder pain
- Sports injuries
- Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJD)
